Ian Loder - AQHA Youth Team Member 2018

AQHA Youth World Cup 2018

The American Quarter Horse Youth World Cup is an educational, leadership-based event involving youth teams from over 15 countries. The teams  participate in equestrian clinics, leadership seminars and first class competition. It is a unique opportunity for them to learn and develop their equestrian skills in a hands-on-setting.


Ian was selected to join the AQHA UK Youth Team riders who will compete at the American Quarter Horse Youth World Cup 2018 in Texas this summer.

As a western rider who joined the American Quarter Horse Association (both USA and UK) and has many years of riding expierience.  2018 will be Ians first International expierience representing Britain as a Youth Team member.

Ian has been developing his skills working with coaches in the UK. 3G Forensics provided provided funding allowing Ian to train at Sovereign Quarter Horses near March in Cambridgeshire. Ian travelled down from Scotland to spend time with David and Sarah Deptford at Sovereignquarterhorses
Riding many different horses and improving the skills he will use in Texas with the Youth Team for the 2018 Youth World Cup.

Competition Trail Riding

After training with David and Sarah, Ian rode his own horse in competiotion at the Oakridge Easter Show winning the Youth Hi-Point award with several good placings.

In Texas Ian will be competing in western trail, cutting and ranch riding. These are all ridden classes but he is ready to show his abilities at showmanship, where he may show the horse in-hand, being judged on his ability to navigate a set pattern of manoeuvres.
